## When to Schedule Light Chemical Peels

Light chemical peels use a mild acid that exfoliates the top layer of skin. Light peels may use glycolic acid, lactic acid, or salicylic acid to help you achieve your desired results. Dead skin cells from the epidermis are stripped away to reveal new skin cells underneath. Because light chemical peels heal quickly, you can get a light peel every four to six weeks.
## When to Schedule Medium Chemical Peels
Medium chemical peels use stronger acids than light chemical peels. They also reach a bit deeper into the skin, exfoliating the top layers of skin, including the epidermis and the upper dermis. Medium chemical peels may use trichloroacetic acid or glycolic acid. They’re the perfect treatment option for anyone who wants to see results faster. These peels are recommended for uneven skin tone, dry skin texture, hyperpigmentation, skin damage, and acne scars. You can get a medium chemical peel every four to six months.
## When to Schedule Deep Chemical Peels
Deep chemical peels use the strongest chemical formulas, often containing trichloroacetic acid and phenol, to penetrate further into the layers of your skin and target deeper concerns. These full-strength peels can treat skin issues such as deep acne scarring, significant hyperpigmentation, sun spots, skin tone and texture concerns, skin damage, and more. Deep chemical peels take some time to heal. In the first week or two after treatment, you’ll notice skin redness, peeling, or even scabbing. Trust the healing process! It gets worse before it gets better. Deep chemical peels require more downtime and you may need to take a week or two off work to give your skin time to heal. We recommend deep peels once every two or three years.
