Microchanneling is a great way to boost your body’s natural healing abilities. It promotes collagen production for smoother, healthier skin. If you’re prepping for your first microneedling or microchanneling appointment, here are some important microchanneling aftercare tips to remember. 
## Immediately After Treatment
Your microchanneling appointment starts a healing process that will take up to two weeks. For the first few hours, you’ll notice some redness, and your skin may be easily irritated. Here’s what you should do during the first 24 hours:
Avoid applying any products to the treated areas. This includes cosmetics, cleansers, and moisturizers. The only product we recommend is the serum or hydrating mask provided by your healthcare professional.
Don’t touch the treated areas with your hands, phone, makeup brush, or any other object. Irritating the skin within the first few hours can increase your risk of an allergic reaction or infection. 
Avoid exposure to allergens and irritants such as pet dander and dust. During the first 24 hours, you may be sensitive to allergens that don’t normally bother you. 
Keep out of the sun for the first day and wear a hat outdoors. Strong UV rays can irritate your skin and slow the healing process. Remember that during the first 24 hours you should avoid all products. This includes sunscreen! For the first day let your face heal. By the second day, you can apply sunscreen as usual.
Skip any strenuous exercises in the first 24 hours and keep your face cool. 
## Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
In the Days After Treatment
Most people can resume their regular skincare routines 24 to 48 hours after treatment. If your face feels sensitive or irritated, wait another day before applying cosmetics or other products to the treated areas. Here are the microchanneling aftercare tips you should keep in mind:
Continue using the serum from your healthcare professional. The best time to apply the serum is after cleansing your face and before applying moisturizer.
Wear sunscreen! Protect your face with broad-spectrum sunscreen whenever you’re outside. For the next two weeks, your face will be sensitive and will need extra protection.
Don’t use any products containing retinol, alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids, or vitamin C for at least two weeks after microchanneling. Until your skin rejuvenation is complete, don’t use any strong or abrasive products on treated areas.
You may need to apply more moisturizer than usual. After microchanneling it’s common to experience dry or tight skin, so keep applying that moisturizer and don’t let your skin dry out. 
You may notice some peeling or breakouts during healing. This is a common part of the healing journey. Don’t pick at any peeling skin and be patient with the process. 
If you apply cosmetics during the healing process, use new makeup brushes or clean your old brushes thoroughly.
