Are you dealing with dry skin? It’s a common problem for everyone, particularly during the dry winter months. Over the winter we spend more time indoors surrounded by hot, dry air. ## Turn Down the Heat
Blasting the heat may help you stay cozy in the winter, but it can lead to dry, flaky skin. Rather than cranking up the heat in the winter, leave your heat at a moderate setting. Avoid drying out the air in your home by keeping the temperature as low as is comfortable. 
## Get A Humidifier
You can replace some moisture in the air by running a humidifier. Put your humidifier in your bedroom to get the most benefit. Your skin will thank you, with visibly less dry, cracking skin. Breathing will also be easier, as your mouth, nose, and throat will feel less dry. 
## Adjust Your Water Temperature
Do you take scalding hot showers in the winter? You may want to rethink your showering habits. All that hot water can actually dry out your skin, leading to more cracks, soreness, and outbreaks. Take a warm shower and aim to turn off the water after 10 minutes. 

When you step out of the shower, pat your skin dry rather than rubbing it. This can protect the top layer of your skin. Then moisturize! A rich body lotion can help rehydrate your skin, fighting dry and itchy skin.
## Wear Gloves
Nothing chaps your hands faster than cold, dry air. Whenever you go outside, wear gloves to protect your hands from the elements. Even if you don’t think it’s very cold, get into the habit of covering your hands and protecting your skin. 
## Wash Instead of Sanitizing
You’re probably in the habit of sanitizing your hands when you’re out of the house. You may have even started sanitizing at home, but that’s a habit you should change. Put the home hand sanitizer away and wash your hands with a moisturizing soap instead. Sanitizer can dry out your hands in a hurry. Get in the habit of washing your hands with warm water, patting them dry, and then applying moisturizer.
## Skip the Scratchy Fabrics
Do your winter clothes chafe your skin? Some materials, like wool or polyester, can irritate your sensitive skin in the winter.
