At the time of my first Botox treatment, I was about to turn 33. Sure I had lines on my forehead that I’ve hated (you can see the one on the right side that’s bugged me for years but didn’t really know there was much I could do about it. Well, thanks to Botox, those lines are now long gone.

## First Time Botox Tips
I’m pretty open about my Botox treatments online. I’m 36 years old now and I mean, it’s 2021, who cares what other women do for a little self-care, right? But I will say that its’ something I think there are so many questions surrounding the topic. So I wanted to dedicate a full blog post answering all of your questions around the treatment and provide my own first-time Botox tips in one place you can reference.

Before we dive in, I of course want to remind y’all that I am not soliciting medical advice. You should 100% consult with a licensed medical professional before any cosmetic procedures you may be considering. I am simply sharing my own personal experience with Botox.

## How Long Does It Take to See Botox Results
Botox is a neurotoxin most commonly used to treat fine lines and wrinkles in the forehead, frown lines, and crows feet. It can take Botox anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks to show results. For my own fine lines and wrinkles, I usually see results around day 6 or 7 post-Botox treatment.

## How Long Does Botox Last
I get Botox administered on my forehead, crow’s feet, and the little 11 between my eyes. Results typically last a few months. I would say I try to get a Botox treatment about once a season, so 4 times a year.

## How Many Botox Units Should You Get
Definitely include information on different parts of the face, like forehead, bunny lines, around the eyes, etc. Talk about being conservative at first and you can always go back and get more but generally what is a good starting point for someone younger, someone older, etc.

## Does Botox Hurt
I think this question is a bit subjective, to be honest. For me, the application is pretty minimal on the pain scale. I mean, there’s a needle going into my face so it’s certainly not pain-free but it is 100% tolerable. The needle is so thin and small and it all goes by so quickly…it really isn’t bad at all. The entire process lasts maybe 20 minutes. And after you’ve injected hundreds of needles into your body via IVF, a little Botox needle is nothing!

## Can You Exercise After Botox Appointment
I am not really an active exerciser so I had to do a quick Google search on this one. And it is suggested to wait at least 24 hours before strenuous activity or sweating. It also says to avoid being upside down or doing anything intense to your face. Basically, just take it easy for the next day. but you can totally still wear makeup.

## What Are Botox Side Effects
I have very sensitive skin, so there, of course, were little small red dots on my face afterward from where the Botox was injected. But those faded within the hour. Other than that, I personally had no adverse side effects. If you do have any sorts of sudden pain, itching, change in skin color, etc you should contact your doctor immediately.

## Botox Amounts I Used
Post-treatment life is the best life.  The results are amazing and that pesky deep forehead line I have is all but gone which makes me so happy. And if you’re curious about how much Botox I personally get administered into my face, here’s a breakdown by units:

- 10 units to forehead “frontalis”
- 20 units to the area between my eyebrows “glabella”
- 12 units to the crows feet (6 units per side)
- 8 units to tail of brow for a brow life (4 units per side)
