Are you new to the world of Botox? It can be a bit daunting when you book your first appointment, and you may be worried about committing a beauty faux pas. If you’re trying Botox for the first time, let’s talk about some injectable etiquette you should know. Here’s what not to do when getting Botox – Part 1. 
## Don’t Use Your Phone
Do you use your phone when getting beauty treatments? You may spend time scrolling during a haircut or pedicure. But when your injector has the needle out, put the phone away. Taking selfies, texting, or calling a friend is a no-go. To get the best results and avoid any unwanted side effects, you need to keep your face still during your treatment. You also need to have your face turned upwards to give your injector the best view. Using your phone can tempt you to tuck your chin down and may impact your Botox results.

Finally, your injector may have questions or comments during the treatment. They may ask for your feedback or give you directions. You need to be paying attention to get the best results. You should be focused on staying relaxed and present, and this means putting away any distractions. Dermatologists recommend that you can hold a stress ball to take your mind off the needle and stay calm during the treatment. 

The good news is that Botox is a very short treatment. The injections take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes, so you’ll be back online before you know it. 
## Keep Your Hands in Your Lap
If you’re tempted to touch your face during treatment, don’t! Injectors take great care to properly clean your skin before injections to offer the safest treatment. Bacteria often lives on your fingertips or under your nails, so touching your face during treatment can introduce bacteria to the injection site. If you absentmindedly scratch an itch, your injector will need to sterilize the injection site again.

Sometimes you may need to point to an area as you discuss your desired results. We suggest using a sterilized Q-tip if you need to touch your face during a Botox appointment.
## Don’t Flinch
It’s hard to control our unconscious reactions. If a needle is coming towards your face, it may be challenging to sit still. However, flinching or dodging the needle can lead to some unwanted effects. Ultimately, it can increase the number of injections you’ll need to get your desired results. 

During injections, you may want to close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Rest your head for stability and try not to move unless directed by your injector.  
## Don’t Stare at Your Injector
Sometimes it can feel calming to look at your injector during your appointment, but staring at your injector can get awkward. They have to be very close to your face for most of the appointment, and they need to concentrate on giving you the best results. Avert your eyes or close your eyes to make it more comfortable for everyone.
